Central Patient Monitoring Systems in High Demand from Various Medical Centers across the World
Central Patient Monitoring System (CPMS) is a full-featured system that provides comprehensive patient monitoring and review. It is used to capture images of the patients and stream them to a centralized display. The Patient Information System (PIS), which is often hand-held devices that allow multiple operators to work in tandem, is the heart of the system.
The head-mounted
display (HMD) is attached to the doctor's head. When a doctor uses the HMD to
view the images captured by the PIS, he can make corrections to treatment
methods, diagnose a problem, or prescribe medication. Central patient monitoring systems have been on the market for several years and are now
becoming more popular. They are ideal for use in a wide variety of
environments, since they can be used in conjunction with any type of PIS or IVR
system and can also be used in conjunction with a traditional video display monitor.
Since the PIS and IVR systems work in different ways, it is important for a
doctor to understand how each one works and the advantages/disadvantages of
using each one.
Various medical centers
are focused on adopting advanced central patient monitoring systems. IN
February 2021, OSI Systems, Inc. announced that its Healthcare division,
Spacelabs Healthcare, received an order valued at approximately US$ 4 million
to provide a suite of patient monitoring and diagnostic cardiology solutions to
a U.S. based hospital. High prevalence of chronic diseases is also expected to
boost demand for such systems. For instance, according to the World Health
Organization’s Globocan 2018, Germany recorded 608,742 cases of cancer 247,462
cancer-related deaths in 2018. The emergence of Covid-19 is also expected to
boost demand for central patient monitoring systems. Hospitals are using remote
monitoring to reduce spending on personal protective equipment and free up beds
for patients with COVID-19.
