PACS And RIS Provide Best Benefits To The Patients And The Medical Industry

PACS And RIS

PACS and RIS are two acronyms that you may hear as a medical system's technical terms. They can be a little confusing. Both terms stand for Patient Information System but are acronyms that are often used interchangeably.

The difference between PACS and RIS is that PACS describes the hardware and software that is used to implement EHRs to RIS describes the security aspects of that hardware and software.

A medical EHR is a medical system that uses computerized systems to store patient information and then retrieve that information for analysis. Medical EHRs were created to replace many older systems like the Health Maintenance Organization or HIP and to provide a more complete solution for medical offices. Some medical offices are using both HIP and PACS and RIS systems. RIS, however, is the more common term and simply refers to the medical system itself.

The RIS part describes the software that is used by the system, and PACS refers to the hardware part of the system. These two parts work together and then allow the medical office to maintain the medical records electronically in a way that is more organized, allows for quick access, and allows for more efficient record keeping.

The other part of the PACS and a RIS system are the interface between the hardware and the software. There are many different interfaces that can be used. In general, the RIS interface is directly attached to the patient's computer via a USB port or a local area network (LAN). This provides the medical office with direct access to the patient's medical data and enables the doctor and staff to take full advantage of what the medical data has to offer. By using PACS and a RIS even small medical office can save a lot of money
